Passage East
Jennings Mitchell’s collection of photographs celebrates the proud people, heritage, and joys of life in Eastern North Carolina. His lifelong involvement in photography has included numerous levels of professional photography; however, his love of capturing images is best shown through the photographs in this collection. Artist Biography
Jennings Mitchell, a Kinston native and proud ECU alumnus (Business, ’79), views his photography as an avocation that gives him pleasure and incentive to explore rural areas of our state. He enjoys photographing country scenes and people that represent Eastern North Carolina’s beauty and heritage. Jennings started out as the family photographer as a child, and his involvement in photography has included professional wedding photography, studio imaging, and architectural photography for company portfolios.
“A perfect day for me,” Jennings explains, “is poling off down country roads and seeing that ‘meant to be’ photograph—and bringing back in my camera as much of that as I can.”
Jennings lives in the Farm Life community of Martin County, a beautiful area of multi-generational family farmland and an abundance of gracious, caring people. He is currently the sales and production manager for Scotland Neck Heart Pine, Inc. Jennings’s photographs can be viewed at the Dare County Arts Council Gallery in Manteo, N.C. , the Riverwalk Gallery in Washington, N. C., and on his website: jenningsmitchellphotography.com.
