In Powers of Poetry Camp led by Phillip Shabazz, students will have the opportunity to participate in a Writing Component, where they will work from prompts and write original poems including free verse, poetic styles, and rhymes. 

The Reading Component of this Summer Campwill include time allotted to read original and sample poems, and discuss written work. The Speaking Component will allow students to read aloud their poems and practice to become effective speakers. In addition, there will also be time set aside for question-and-answer sessions.

Students will engage in poetry via hands-on, reading, composing, and performing their poems, improve ideas and knowledge about creative writing and poetry, and increase cultural awareness through enrichment activities. Improve relationships with other participants. Enhance career possibilities by participating in artistic learning experiences.

Free to all Beaufort County Youth.

Youth Summer Camp: Powers of Poetry (Rising 4th to 12th graders)
